There
are 19 fully trained First Responders in the Ashley
and Loggerheads First Responder Scheme,
-
The
service provides 24 hour cover every day of the
year,
-
It
is run totally by volunteers,
-
If
you call 999 for an ambulance, the First Responders
will also receive a call from the control centre to
respond to you,
-
They
cover over 2500 homes,
-
They
respond to all calls within a 5 mile radius of the
centre of Loggerheads,
-
Each
Responder has received 100 hours training by
Staffordshire Ambulance Service with regular
updates,
-
If
you have a heart attack and receive treatment in the
1st 6 minutes you are
80% more likely to survive,
-
The
scheme is a completely self financing group which
relies on local support to continue the service,
-
10% of calls are to heart
problems,
-
The
Responders have never stood down and one is always
on duty,
-
They
have responded to over 900 calls since going live in
Aug 2005,
-
On
the busiest day, the responders received 6 calls in
1 shift,
-
You
can regularly donate to the group by setting up a
direct debit,
-
The
responder vehicle is equipped with the best
equipment available and is maintained to a
exceptional high standard within the parish,
-
You
can help a rapid response by ensuring your house
name / number can be seen easily from the road & if
possible leave a light on outside when you call the
service,
-
The
responders all live & play locally and include a
retired teacher, IT manager, retail manager,
Fireman, nurses & many other professional people,
-
The
responders range from 22 years old to 60ish (that
would be telling).
